JENNIFER L. JAMES received her law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 2001 and successfully completed a comparative legal study program in London, England. She began her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University, was one of only two students selected to attend a study abroad program in Sweden, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education and emphasis in Mathematics. Ms. James is licensed to practice law in the states of California, Nevada, and Utah.

Prior to practicing law, Ms. James taught U.S. and World History in the Clark County School District. As a former teacher, Ms. James' clients benefit from her ability to simplify and explain difficult legal concepts as well as her unparalleled ability to resolve contentious disputes through alternative dispute resolution. Ms. James began her legal practice with a litigation law firm in Las Vegas, Nevada, focusing her career in representing community associations. Ms. James moved to the Coachella Valley in 2006 and, utilizing her expertise in community association law, served as in-house counsel for a residential developer, handling development issues as a forward planner. In 2008, Ms. James accepted a position to establish and manage the Palm Desert satellite office for one of the largest community association law firms in Southern California. In addition to supervising the satellite office staff, Ms. James managed the community association matters, including assessment collection matters, for the Coachella Valley clients. Continuing to provide exceptional legal services to her clients with a hands-on approach, Ms. James established her own law practice in 2014.

Ms. James has been actively involved in the Community Association Institute (CAI) chapters in Nevada and California since 2004, serving on many committees as the chair and frequently writes articles for the monthly CAI-CV HOA Living magazine. Ms. James has been serving on the CAI-CV Board of Directors since 2020. Ms. James is one of the few instructors for the CAI California Law Course and obtained her educated business partner designation. Additionally, Ms. James has been providing legal guidance to the Desert Cities HOA Council since 2008, actively participates in the Desert Bar Association, and is frequently asked to speak at various conferences and events on community association law issues.

In addition to practicing law, Ms. James cherishes quality time with her family, hiking in the great outdoors, and enjoys volunteering for her community. She has volunteered for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America, the Special Olympics, and a 24 hour mobile crisis team and is a former licensed Emergency Medical Technician. During law school, Ms. James was commended for her exceptional service as a Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteer representing the needs of at risk children. After law school, Ms. James was acknowledged for providing court house tours and legal education to elementary, middle, and high school students in Las Vegas, Nevada. Currently, Ms. James was selected to serve as a mentor to law students of Washburn School of Law.
